Man, Bran was GLOWING during the promo for Talk About Our Love back in 2004!
Brandy Tells MTV News She Felt “Shy” Shooting Video With Chris Brown
Brandy during 2002 MTV Video Music Awards - Arrivals at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, New York, United States.
Though she’s still working on it and it’s still untitled, Brandy’s new album is really going to come out on February 26, a spokesperson for the singer insisted Thursday. In fact, her first single and the accompanying video are scheduled to drop in December, setting it up.
On the single, called “What About Us?,” Brandy roars back at an untrue love. “Why don’t you return my calls?” she asks her would-be Mr. Right. “Why you messin’ with my mind?/ I can find another guy,” she continues.
The cut’s producer, Rodney Jerkins, provides manic g-funk, bouncy basslines and effects that sound like metal getting crunched. As Jerkins proclaimed in August, Brandy sounds a little different now (see “Brandy, Rodney Jerkins Hope To Repeat Chemistry”). Her voice is deeper than ever before, adding an extra depth to the chorus, which includes the lines, “What about all the things you said?/ What about the promises you made?/ What about the lies you gave me?”
Her spokesperson said the voice change simply has to do with growing up. Like her fellow pop princess peer, Britney Spears, she’s not a little girl anymore. By the time the album drops, Brandy will be 23 (her birthday is February 13).
The video for “What About Us?” hasn’t been shot yet, as Brandy’s still in the process of choosing a director. She’ll have to hurry up and decide, though — her rep said the clip is scheduled to ramp up production within the next two weeks in Los Angeles.
“I can’t wait to see what they’re going to do with my modeling career,” Brandy said. “I’m a big fan of Tommy Hilfiger and Polo Sport and Donna Karan and Dolce & Gabbana — I’m saying all this because I want an endorsement.”
“But I’m a huge fan of all them,” she continued"
Fresh off her killer collab with Monica, “It Belongs To Me,” Brandy has teamed up for another dope collab, this time with Chris Brown. Unlike some of the more standard R&B/pop tracks we’ve heard from Brandy in the past, “Put It Down” has an edgier, more bad-ass vibe to it. And MOAR PLZ, Brandy. We. LOVE.

Slated to appear on Brandy’s forthcoming album, Two Eleven, the unique Bangladesh and Sean Garrett co-production is what gives this song its edge. Well that, and the fact that Brandy and Chris have obvious chemistry — both slay the eff outta their verses. Brandy opens the record and uses her deep, sultry vocals to get her point across: “Ooh, way to talk game/ It’s so tough/ Damn, I love it all/ Even the way you flex/ That’s what turn me/ Ooh, you know you make me weak/ Just cause the way you are/ ‘Cause everybody in it know you’re a star.” Chris Brown plays his usual rap-flirt game, and dude lays it on thick: “Sippin’ on that Brandy/ That liquor comes in handy/ Girl, I know you fancy/ But this party I’m financing.” Um, I’d love an all-expenses-paid soiree with a Brandy cameo! Where does a girl sign up for this package?
Pak: A lot of female artists start sexualizing themselves really young.
Brandy: Yeah, but my mom kept a tight grip on me with that. I wanted to show my little navel and stuff like that, and she was like, “Not yet, you’re too young!” But honey, I’m 25 now, I gotta show a little skin, a little leg. Do y’all like my little cleavage? [Shelaughs.]."Brandy on growing up - MTV
