Brandy | Music
This song perfectly describes how I feel about music. Brandy’s vocals on this album cut is phenomenal! Singers take notes!
[Verse 1:]
I wake up to you
Go to sleep to you
And all in between
I’m hearing you
I like to ride to you
I think to you
And when it’s something I love
I sing to you
[Chorus:]
I’m crazy about you
Oh yeah
I can’t live without you
No [repeat]
I’m so glad I got you
Right by my side
Yeah [repeat]
Cause I’m lost without you
[Verse 2:]
I laugh [x2] to you
I cry to you
And when there’s no one else to talk to
There’s always you
I dance to you
Share romance to you
Millions of people who know me
They see you
Oh woah [x2]
[Chorus:]
I’m crazy about you
Oh yeah
I can’t live without you
No [repeat]
I’m so glad I got you
Cause I’m lost without you
[Bridge:]
Your everywhere
In the past it’s been said
That you make the world go round
Round and round
So I guess that’s what I’m tryin to say now
Aye he-yeah
[Chorus:]
I’m crazy about you
I’m crazy crazy about you
I can’t live no ooh
I can’t live without you
Your the reason I breathe hey yeah
I’m so glad I got you
Cause I’m lost without you
I’m so lost
Cause I’m lost without you
I’m crazy about you
I can’t live without
So glad I got you
Cause I’m lost…
CADILLAC GRIND: I have been thinking about the descent of CGI in the last couple of years or so. I mean technology has expanded and evolved so much beyond my own knowledge. However back in the early 2000s there was a little thing called ‘Computer Generated Imagery’ that was pedaled as the ‘future of visuals’. It appeared everywhere, from Pixar films to music videos. This video for Brandy’s ‘What About Us?’ was my favourite use of the medium. Directed by Dave Meyers, the short film sees the singer transported from a futuristic dystopia where pyramids built of men and floating trees filled the landscape to a never ending parking lot filled with colourful cadillacs. The contrast between the two ‘worlds’ shouldn’t be coherent but somehow it is. Considering the modern brilliance of its soundtrack, a Darkchild produced R’n’B anthem, perhaps I shouldn’t be surprised that little details like fragmented narrative don’t really matter in music videos.

Tha Bizness always deliver great production. This track they produced for Brandy’s “Wildest Dreams” is no exception.
I keep this instrumental on replay when I need to focus on something.
That drum beat and the menacing bassline, overlaid with soft keys, then combined with the airy melody from the flute is just… perfect.
