This girl is killing it on her EP: Canon Aphaea. I started listening to Mélat a couple of weeks ago, and especially like the songs ‘Anybody’ and ‘Balance’. Mélat’s voice sometimes reminds me of Brandy, but with a lighter quality to it. On a track like ‘Anybody’, that husky tone strengthens the emotional delivery of a combined sense of misery and passion. Her vocals are classy, understated and she clearly knows how to work her instrument. Like other artists I’ve mentioned before, Mélat isn’t easy to categorize. Again, it’s all about multiplicity, crossing genre-barriers and experimenting with new sounds. Download the EP, and keep an eye out for her on beholdmelat.tumblr.com.
